How do I get to Explorama?
You fly to Iquitos, Peru via Miami or Lima. American, Delta, Continental or United to Lima and then AeroContinente (888--586-9400) or TACA (800-535-8780) from Lima to Iquitos. There are no direct flights to Iquitos from the States except TACA which stops in Lima before proceeding to Iquitos.
Then what?
You are taken to our dock to board our fast river launches to the lodging on your itinerary. Ceiba Tops is 25 miles downriver from Iquitos, the Lodge 50 and ExplorNapo 100. Travel time from Iquitos to the Napo is about 3 hours.
I see that you usually combine the ExplorNapo Lodge (where the Canopy Walkway is located) with other lodges. Can we visit the Walkway without staying at other lodges?

Yes. Our Weekend Special is a 2 night/3 day ExplorNapo program that will satisfy your need for a shorter stay and still visit the Walkway.
Can we visit the Canopy Walkway from a stay at the Ceiba Tops?
Yes. We have a one day program that departs Ceiba Tops early morning returning late afternoon.
Do I have to arrive at a certain time or a certain day for your programs?
Our programs are all-inclusive and your program begins when you arrive and ends when you leave; however, the earlier you arrive and the later you stay will enable you to enjoy all activites.
How physically exerting are the hikes?
As exerting as you wish. Your guide will tell you the approximate time of each hike, and you can decide to go along or hang out in a hammock at the lodge. But we usually go very slowly to observe the area during the hike.

My husband is interested in medicinal plants and I am a little but we would like other activities as well. How can you work this out?
At ExplorNapo your husband can visit the Ethnobotanical Garden which is a teaching garden for medicinal plants tended by a local shaman and his sons, and you can go with another group birding or hiking in a different direction.
We plan to visit Cusco/Machu Picchu as well. Which should we do first?
Your choice, really. A lot depends on the most convenient flight arrangements. You can fly non-stop Miami/Iquitos via AeroPeru on Saturday's but if you go to Lima first you then have a choice of going to Iquitos or to Cusco. There are no direct flights between Iquitos and Cusco so you'll have to connect through Lima.
What about electricity at the lodges for charging batteries, etc?
We do not have electricity at Explorama Lodge of ExplorNapo Lodge or the ACEER. Although we do have small generators at the Lodge and ACEER, the noise they make is quite intrusive to the quiet of the forest so we try not to run them only in cases where entomologists are running bug lights. The Explorama Inn has electricity.
Should I wait to get to Peru to make a reservation? Will I save money?
Our programs are exactly the same price if purchased here are there. The most important consideration is space availability at our lodges and by booking in advance you know if you can or cannot stay and adjust travel plans accordingly. If you wait until you arrive and there's no space, you're out of luck.
